art direction
Design has guided my career path over the last two decades, and has been carefully honed during my positions as product designer, art director and artist in various work settings. My current goal as a designer is to use technology and creativity through visual communication, finding innovative solutions that have a positive impact on people, environment and business.
At the of age 17, I entered what at the time was the most respected design course of Brazil, at the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation in Sao Paulo. I graduated from the age of 20 and worked for 2 years as an assistant at the multinational company Henkel Loctite, in the department of Packaging Engineering.
This is when I started to really learn about the the processes of launching a product at an international level.
After working at Henkel, I decided to delve into the advertising industry, where I spent the next 15 years working within Brazil’s largest agencies, 5 of them as the Art Director of Dentsu Latin America. During this time within the industry, I attended and participated in national and international campaigns for Sony Electronics, Toyota, Fast Shop, Ajinomto, Xerox among others. (At this time 2 awards at London Festival and 2 New York Festival, with Sony Bravia Online and External Media + Fast Shop Digital Campaing)
A shift occurred in my advertising career after I was called on to illustrate the book "Le Monde Selon Monsanto" (The World According to Monsanto, by Marie-Monique Rodin with the introduction of Marina Silva). This is when I turned my attention to the urgencies and demands of living in a more sustainable world.
In 2009, I set up a project called Casco, a study focused on researching new subjects, technology and sustainability. It was very well recognized nationally, standing out for its innovative green products, including the Woody sound dock, an extremely powerful sound system that is 90% biodegradable.
We were also known for the wooden glasses we produced, composed of a 100% organic frame (only 4 exist in the world (back to 2011), the wooden wallet, a bamboo phone case and a dish drainer.
With Casco, I also expanded to the realm of the experiential, creating, developing, producing and designing for Vento Festival, a Brazilian music festival that seeks to rescue our cultural origins and highlight new national artists. Considered by the national media as one of the 5 most important festivals of the country, we have realized 4 editions since 2015 that engaged more than 500 artists and a public of over 60 thousand people.
I continue with these exciting projects, as an strategist, passionate about branding, design thinking and sustainability. Você também? Algum projeto que possamos colaborar? mail@tatianasobral.com
